How Vint collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use our website and payments platform.
Last updated: September 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Vint (“Vint”, “we”, “us”) handles personal data when you visit our website, create an account, or buy from a business that sells through Vint as its merchant of record. We only collect what we need to run the service, meet our legal obligations, and keep payments safe.
1. Who we are
Vint provides checkout, subscription billing, global tax, and payout infrastructure. When a buyer purchases from a seller using Vint, we act as the merchant of record and the legal seller of that transaction. For buyer data processed to complete a sale, calculate tax, and prevent fraud, Vint is the data controller. For data our sellers upload to manage their own customers, we act as a processor on their behalf.
2. Data we collect
Account data: name, work email, company name, password, and account settings.
Transaction data: products purchased, amounts, currency, billing address, tax identifiers, and payment status.
Payment data: card and bank details are collected and stored by our PCI DSS–certified payment partners. We only receive tokens, the card brand, and the last four digits.
Seller data: business details, identity verification documents, bank account information for payouts, and tax registrations.
Usage data: IP address, device and browser type, pages visited, and actions taken in the dashboard.
Communications: messages you send us through the contact form, email, or support channels.
3. How we use your data
To process payments, subscriptions, refunds, and payouts.
To calculate, collect, and remit sales tax, VAT, and GST in the countries where we are registered.
To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and chargebacks.
To verify seller identity and meet anti-money-laundering and sanctions requirements.
To provide customer support and send service messages, such as receipts and invoices.
To improve our product, measure performance, and, where you have agreed, send product updates.
4. Legal bases
We process personal data where it is necessary to perform a contract with you, to comply with legal obligations such as tax and financial regulations, for our legitimate interests in running a secure and reliable service, or where you have given consent. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that happened before.
5. Sharing your data
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the seller you purchased from, payment processors and banks, tax authorities where required by law, identity verification and fraud prevention providers, and infrastructure providers that host and support our service. Every provider is bound by a contract that limits how they can use your data.
6. International transfers
Because we operate in more than 100 countries, your data may be processed outside the country where you live. When we transfer data out of the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses, together with additional safeguards where needed.
7. Data retention
We keep transaction and tax records for as long as financial and tax laws require, which is typically between six and ten years. Account data is kept while your account is active and deleted or anonymized after it is closed, unless we need to keep it to resolve disputes or meet legal obligations.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit and at rest, strict access controls, regular security testing, and PCI DSS–compliant partners for card data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to protect your information and will notify you and the relevant authorities of a breach where the law requires it.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us and we will respond within the time required by law.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our service or the law changes. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the dashboard.
