Introducing usage-based billing
Bill on API calls, minutes or messages — no metering pipeline to build yourself.

Seat-based pricing works right up until it doesn’t. The moment your costs scale with API calls, compute minutes, or messages sent, a flat per-seat plan starts leaving money on the table — or scaring off the customers who only need a little. Starting today, you can bill on usage without building a metering pipeline yourself.
How it works
Send us usage events from your backend as they happen. We aggregate them per customer and per billing period, apply your pricing model — per unit, tiered, volume, or package — and add the total to the next invoice. Tax is calculated on the final amount, in the customer’s jurisdiction, like everything else.
Mix it with what you already have
Most teams don’t go fully usage-based overnight. You can attach a metered price to an existing subscription, so a customer pays a base platform fee plus overages, or buys a monthly commitment that draws down as they use it. Existing subscribers keep their plans until you decide to migrate them.
No surprises for your customers
Customers can see their current usage and projected invoice in the billing portal at any time. You can set spend alerts at thresholds you choose, and optional hard caps for customers who need a guaranteed maximum. Fewer “why is my bill so high” emails for everyone.
Getting started
Usage-based billing is available on all plans today, at no extra cost. Create a metered price in the dashboard, start sending events from your sandbox, and preview invoices before anything goes live.
